Beans are good for you in many ways AND they may help with living longer.

Benefits of eating beans:

Full of fiber

Some of the fiber in beans functions as a prebiotic

Nutrient dense - folate, zinc, potassium

Provides plenty of protein in a plant based form

Beans are filling and take longer to digest

What to eat:

Fava beans

Black beans


Cannelini beans

Garbanzo beans

Kidney beans

*make sure you choose low sodium

How to eat more:

As a side dish with onion, garlic & herbs.

Soups, stews, chilis.

Use lentils as a substitute for ground meat.

Roast garbanzos with seasonings.

Purée for a bean dip.

Use cannellini or garbanzos mashed as a sandwich spread.

Add black beans to a breakfast burrito.

White Bean Rosemary Dip

Cannellini/White Beans

Fresh Rosemary

Lemon Juice

Olive Oil

Salt & Pepper

Blend ingredients in food processor.

Serve with carrots, celery, pita chips, crackers or tortilla chips.
